Zovirax Cold Sore Cream is indicated in adults and children for the treatment of a cold sore which is an infection caused by the herpes simplex virus
Stages of the virus
After the itchy, tingly stage, the site of the cold sore gradually develops into a blister or a small group of blisters, surrounded by red and swollen skin.
After a day or so these burst to produce the typical open sore.
Like a sore anywhere on your body, these sores gradually dry up and form a crusty scab, which is usually a yellow-brown colour.
The sore gradually heals.
The scab falls off over a few days and should completely disappear after around 10 days, or faster with the use of Zovirax Cold Sore Cream.
The area may be a bit swollen for few days.

Zovirax contains the active ingredient (Acyclovir)

Zovirax Suspension is used to treat viral infections. It plays a vital role in treating cold sores (an inflamed blister in or near the mouth, caused by infection with the herpes simplex virus), genital herpes (a common sexually transmitted infection marked by genital pain and sores), and herpes zoster (a viral infection that causes a painful rash). In addition to this, it is also used to treat chickenpox. Zovirax Suspension does not cure herpes but does not allow the infection to spread and treat its symptoms.
Zovirax Suspension contains Aciclovir, which is an antiviral medication. Zovirax Suspension prevents the multiplication of viruses in human cells by acting on their DNA, resulting in decreased viral overload.
Zovirax Suspension is taken with or without food in a dose and duration as advised by the doctor. The dose you are given will depend on your condition. In some cases, you may experience headaches, feeling dizzy, feeling or being sick (nausea or vomiting), diarrhoea, rash, and skin sensitivity to sunlight. How to take Zovirax Suspension : If you have kidney, liver, or heart problems • Take Zovirax Suspension as per your doctor's instruction. If you have any other medical conditions, sun diseases, or weakened immune systems, you should not take this medicine. It is better to avoid taking Zovirax Suspension, as it may increase the risk of side effects. If you are taking medications (including painkillers) containing antiviral drugs (such as antiviral Drugs, androleger, GSK), consult your doctor before taking Zovirax Suspension. Contact your doctor right away if you experience any of the following side effects:If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, you should not take this medicine. Valtrex® is a type of drug known as a prodrug of acyclovir, a synthetic nucleoside analogue. It is an antiviral that inhibits the replication of the herpes simplex virus. The medication is available in two forms: a tablet and an oral suspension. In the first version, the active ingredient is acyclovir, while the inactive substance is valacyclovir, which is a synthetic nucleoside analogue.
Valtrex® is used to treat cold sores, genital herpes, shingles and chickenpox, as well as the common cold. It is not used to treat the following conditions:
Valtrex® is not a cure for herpes simplex infections, but it can help to prevent recurrent outbreaks. If you experience a cold sore or fever, it is important to take Valtrex® with food to prevent dehydration.
